Course Overview:

This program is suitable for healthcare professionals who teach Advanced Life Support and have existing Instructor and ALS certification. The focus is to provide an update to resuscitation research and education. This course also includes an ALS recertification in either adults or paediatrics, based on the current ANZCOR guidelines.

Program content includes:

  • Content delivery – didactic presentation
  • Simulation scenario development and implementation
  • Debriefing as a learning tool
  • Conducting ALS assessments
  • Opportunity for resuscitation educators to network with their peers
  • ALS recertification

Each participant is provided with an Instructor reference manual (including self-directed exercises and practical tips) and an e-copy of our Adult or Paediatric ALS manual upon paid online registration.

Nursing staff may claim up to 10 CPD hours (based on 6 hours program contact and four hours self-directed learning).

Medical staff may be accredited a different allocation of hours based on the accreditation with their medical college CPD home.

Successful participants will be placed on the ACCCN National ALS Database.

Pre-course requirements:

“Instructor certification candidates must have a current ALS or PALS certification (completed within the last 12 months) in order to complete the Instructor Course (and gain recertification in their ALS or PALS qualification). Any registrant who attends a course without a current ALS or PALS certification will not be eligible to complete the Instructor Course and will not be issued a refund. For those who have a recently expired ALS or PALS certificate (completed with the last 12-18months) please contact the ACCCN to discuss any leniency in this rule based on special circumstances, prior to registering for this course”.

Attendees can test their knowledge by completing the electronic pre-test quiz prior to the day. Details on how to access the ALS Manuals and pre-test quiz will be emailed on receipt of paid online registration.

Cancellation & Refund Policy: 

This policy relates to all ACCCN ALS courses (Adult, Paediatric and Instructor)  

Cancellations received up to 30 days prior to the event start date will receive a refund, less $60.00 administration fee. A transfer to another equivalent course can be requested at no additional fee.
No refund is payable on cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the course start date. A transfer to another equivalent course can be requested with a $110 transfer fee applicable.
Cancellations must be made in writing to the relevant state branch.

Registration Transfers:
Registrations may be transferred into another name, but this must be requested in writing at least 7 days prior to the event, otherwise it will be considered a cancellation and an additional registration fee will be payable.
Where a registration is transferred, ACCCN will not refund any monies – all negotiations and transactions must be done between the relevant parties. If a non- member has replaced a member, the difference in cost will be payable to ACCCN prior to the event date.

COVID-19:
The following declaration is required to attend all ACCCN courses:
I CONFIRM that for the 14 days prior to this ACCCN activity/event, I have NOT:
1. experienced influenza-like or respiratory symptoms
2. travelled overseas
3. been in direct contact with someone who has returned from international in the past 14 days
4. been in direct contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19

If your cancellation is due to the need to self-isolate while a COVID-19 test result is pending, evidence and a medical certificate will be required to transfer to another equivalent course at no additional fee. 
If your cancellation is due to lockdown or travel restrictions, ACCCN will assess on a case by case basis.

ACCCN Rights & Liabilities: 
ACCCN’s maximum liability is limited to the refund conditions above. ACCCN accepts no additional liability for travel, accommodation or any other additional costs incurred. A medical certificate or unforeseen circumstances does not change this liability. 
ACCCN reserves the right to cancel any scheduled event up to 30 days prior to the event start date.
ACCCN will not accept liability for damages of any nature sustained by participants or their accompanying persons or loss or damage to their personal property as a result of the ACCCN Course.
