Course Overview:
This program is suitable for healthcare professionals who teach Advanced Life Support and have existing Instructor and ALS certification. The focus is to provide an update to resuscitation research and education. This course also includes an ALS recertification in either adults or paediatrics, based on the current ANZCOR guidelines.
Program content includes:
Content delivery – didactic presentation
Simulation scenario development and implementation
Debriefing as a learning tool
Conducting ALS assessments
Opportunity for resuscitation educators to network with their peers
ALS recertification
Each participant is provided with an Instructor reference manual (including self-directed exercises and practical tips) and an e-copy of our Adult or Paediatric ALS manual upon paid online registration.
Nursing staff may claim up to 10 CPD hours (based on 6 hours program contact and four hours self-directed learning).
Medical staff may be accredited a different allocation of hours based on the accreditation with their medical college CPD home.
Successful participants will be placed on the ACCCN National ALS Database.
Pre-course requirements:
“Instructor certification candidates must have a current ALS or PALS certification (completed within the last 12 months) in order to complete the Instructor Course (and gain recertification in their ALS or PALS qualification). Any registrant who attends a course without a current ALS or PALS certification will not be eligible to complete the Instructor Course and will not be issued a refund. For those who have a recently expired ALS or PALS certificate (completed with the last 12-18months) please contact the ACCCN to discuss any leniency in this rule based on special circumstances, prior to registering for this course”.
Attendees can test their knowledge by completing the electronic pre-test quiz prior to the day. Details on how to access the ALS Manuals and pre-test quiz will be emailed on receipt of paid online registration.
Parking:
By tram: When coming to Epworth Richmond via the city, catch tram 48 towards North Balwyn from Collins St or tram 75 towards Vermont South from Flinders St and get off at tram stop number 15.
By train: The closest train station to Epworth Richmond is West Richmond, which can be reached via the Mernda and Hurstbridge Lines.
Parking information:
Epworth Richmond has limited undercover parking. The car park is open every day from 6.00am –10.45pm. The entrance to the carpark is on Bridge Road.
Discounted hospital parking is available for $25 per day. Parking discount vouchers can be acquired from the ACCCN ALS Instructors on the day.
