Cardiac Seminar 2026

Caring for critically ill cardiac patients requires specialist knowledge, confidence and skills that continue to evolve alongside new technology, devices and treatment approaches.

This seminar is designed for intensive care, cardiothoracic and cardiology nurses with experience caring for complex cardiac patients, including patients following cardiothoracic surgery, those with congenital heart disease, and those requiring specialised therapies such as Impella, ECMO, pacing and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) support.

Across the day, you’ll hear from an expert multidisciplinary faculty including surgeons, medical specialists, highly specialised nurses, educators and associate professors, bringing together current knowledge and real-world clinical experience from across cardiac and critical care practice.

The program combines expert-led presentations with opportunities to strengthen your practical understanding of complex cardiac care and the technologies used to support these patients.

Build your skills with optional practical workshops

From 1:00pm to 3:00pm, delegates can choose to add a specialised pacing or IABP workshop for $35 per person.

These practical education sessions provide access to focused training that can be difficult to access routinely and may otherwise be competitive or costly to attend.

Delegates who do not select a workshop can remain with the main program for an interactive education session led by Royal Melbourne Hospital ICU and cardiology educators.

The remainder of the day features expert-led presentations covering a broad range of cardiac and critical care topics, giving you the opportunity to update your knowledge, reinforce existing skills and learn from clinicians working at the forefront of the field.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided, giving you time to connect with colleagues and other nurses working across intensive care, cardiothoracics and cardiology.
