The Australian College of Critical Care Nurses Ltd (ACCCN)

The ACCCN National Education Grant supports local and international travel for educational conferences and seminar attendance up to a total value of $2,800.

Guidelines and Application Information

Please read these Guidelines carefully before completing the Online Application Form.

Applications will be considered for travel, registration, accommodation, meal expenses and short course fees used to attend a professional development activity relevant to critical care nursing.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have been financial members of ACCCN for at least the past 12 months.
  • All required documentation must be submitted by the application due date.
  • Successful applicants may reapply for the grant no sooner than two years after receiving a previous grant.
  • Acceptable activities include conferences, seminars, and courses relevant to critical care nursing.
  • The professional development activity must take place after the application closing date.
  • Retrospective funding will not be considered.


Submitting your Application

To apply for a grant all of the following details must be submitted:

  1. A completed online application form
  2. If you are presenting at the conference please provide a copy of your abstract and, when available, confirmation of your abstract acceptance letter
  3. Travel/accommodation quotes, or booking receipts, to substantiate your requests if applying for these components of the conference/seminar
  4. A statement (approximately 100-150 words each) describing:
  • Your reasons why you wish to attend the conference/seminar or short course
  • Relevance of conference/seminar or short course to critical care nursing
  • Strategies you intend to use in the dissemination of knowledge gained by attending conference/seminar or short course to other critical care nurses.


Failure to meet these requirements will result in the applicant being classified as ineligible.

Please note:

  • You must be logged in as a member in order to access the Online Submission Form.
  • Applications must be submitted before 11:59pm (AEST) on 12 October of the relevant year
  • Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted


Review Process and Selection Criteria

The ACCCN Advisory Panels will assess applications and determine the successful applicant. All decisions will be final. ACCCN may contact grant applicants to seek clarification on points or to request further information.

Applicants agree to the ACCCN officers contacting ACCCN state branches to confirm or corroborate their ‘level of activity’ at a state or national level.

The ACCCN Board reserves the right not to allocate the Grant on a given year.

In the event that the participant cannot undertake the professional development activity the funding is to be returned to ACCCN. The ACCCN Board has the right to award the Grant to another applicant.

Notification of Application Outcome

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via email.

Grant Recipient Obligations and Responsibilities

Successful Grant applicants must comply with the conditions of the grant. Failure to comply with conditions outlined in this document will result in non-payment or withdraw of grant funds by ACCCN.

A 100-250 word report outlining the activity and benefit to their intensive care nursing position on completion of activity to be submitted to ACCCN for publication in the eNewsletter.
