ACCCN 2026 TAS Hot Topic Evening - A Day in the Life of an ICU Nurse

The ACCCN TAS Committee invite you join them for this Hot Topic Evening 'A Day in the Life of an ICU Nurse' on the 26th February 2026.
This session is designed to provide students and ward nurses with a realistic overview of what working in an Intensive Care Unit involves. It is aimed at anyone who is curious about critical care nursing or considering ICU as a future career pathway.
Participants will hear directly from members of the ICU multidisciplinary nursing team, including the Nurse Unit Manager, Associate Nurse Unit Managers, a Clinical Nurse Educator, an ICU-trained bedside nurse, an ACCESS nurse, an Emergency Department nurse, and a nurse from the PICC clinic. Each speaker will share their personal career journey, how they entered critical care, and what their role looks like in day-to-day practice.
The session will be interactive and will walk through a typical day in ICU, highlighting the variety of roles, responsibilities, and opportunities within the unit. Panel members will discuss what motivates them, what they value about working in ICU, and the professional development and career pathways available.
