State Committee Elections

Your Voice. Your State. Your Community.

The education sessions, professional connections, local events and member initiatives ACCCN delivers all rely on members who are willing to put their hand up.

Your State Committee brings members together to represent critical care nurses locally, identify what the community needs and help create meaningful opportunities for nurses to learn, connect and contribute.

Nominating yourself is not about having everything figured out. It is about caring enough to contribute.

Who Should Nominate?
We welcome nominations from ACCCN members across different career stages, workplaces, regions and areas of practice.

State Committee membership could be right for you if you:

  • care about the future of critical care nursing
  • enjoy sharing ideas and working collaboratively
  • want to become more involved in the ACCCN community
  • would like to develop your leadership or professional experience
  • want to represent nurses in your workplace, region or area of practice
  • are interested in supporting local education, events and member initiatives

Whether you are early in your career and ready to become more involved, or an experienced nurse looking to give back, your perspective is valuable.

What Is Involved?
State Committee members work collaboratively to support ACCCN activities and members within their state.

Depending on the committee’s priorities, this may include:

  • participating in committee meetings
  • contributing ideas for education, events and member engagement
  • supporting local ACCCN activities and initiatives
  • identifying issues and opportunities affecting critical care nurses
  • connecting with members and the wider critical care community
  • assisting with specific projects or events

Responsibilities are shared across the committee and members are supported by their fellow committee members and the ACCCN national team.

Appointments are for a two-year term, from 19 November 2026 to 23 November 2028.

You Do Not Need to Have All the Answers
Many members hesitate to nominate because they think they need extensive leadership, governance or committee experience.

You do not.

Strong committees are made up of people with different experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to learn from others, build your confidence and grow into the role.

What matters most is your willingness to contribute and your commitment to the critical care nursing community.
