A mixed methods study to determine and prioritise core components of a post-sepsis model of care for the Australian healthcare setting (Sepsis Support Mixed Methods Study – Q-Sort Survey)

We invite you to participate in a survey exploring what adults affected by sepsis consider most important in follow-up care. This survey is part of the SEPSIS SUPPORT Research Program.

This survey is focused on the adult population and we are seeking perspectives from:
• Adult sepsis survivors
• Family members and carers of adults who have experienced sepsis
• People bereaved by adults who have died as a result of sepsis
• Clinicians
• Policymakers
• Health service leaders, and
• Those involved in sepsis advocacy or support for adults

This unique survey uses Q-methodology (a ‘Q-Sort’), where participants sort/rank statements about post-sepsis follow-up care from least to most important to identify key priorities.

Responses will be analysed to identify shared perspectives and inform national models of care, policy, and future stages of the program.

The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete.

To ensure the best experience, we recommend completing the survey on a computer or tablet rather than a mobile phone. Please also allow sufficient time to complete the survey in one sitting, as the Q-Sort activity is designed to be completed from start to finish.

There are no right or wrong answers—we are interested in your personal perspective and judgement.

For more information, please read the Participant Information Sheet. If you have any questions, contact us at SepsisSupportStudy@georgeinstitute.org.au.

To participate, please complete the survey here by Monday 6th July 2026.

Please note: A separate paediatric survey will be distributed at a later date.

Thank you for your time and contribution to this important research.
