Delivering bad news can be distressing and highly emotive for nursing staff. This can impact their psychological wellbeing and work satisfaction. Little is understood about the short- and long-term psychological impacts on critical care nurses when delivering bad news.
This study aims to investigate Australian critical care nurses’ psychological, and emotional impact, of delivering bad news. Specifically, we will focus on examining how this impacts well-being, job satisfaction, and identify coping mechanisms. Findings will aid development of best-practice guidelines and protocols supporting the psychological wellbeing of critical care nurses.
If you currently work in a critical care unit and have been involved in delivering bad news, please participate by completing a survey. Survey will take approximately 30 minutes. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be confidential.
